Down on the Fahm...

Good morning all,

April showers…… April showers….. makes our grass grow, the daffodils blooms and the fruit trees begin to blossom.

We are in the early stages of setting more fruit trees in here at the farm, peaches, pears, Asian pears, plums . Our climate has changed significantly over the past few years, and the stone fruits (peaches and plums) were not able to be successfully grown in Maine, until just the past few years…. And new varieties are being developed to endure to colder winter temps….raspberries, thornless blackberries, and mulberries are in the greenhouse right now, growing in pots for a few more weeks before they will be planted in their new beds too.

Farmers markets in Cumberland and Falmouth will start mid-May, and so another growing season gets goin’ !

Our weekly list is included here for you to peruse, feel free to ask if you are looking for anything special not featured on the list. I do expect fiddleheads and ramps so very soon, the rhubarb is slowly making its way out of the ground, I would expect that the asparagus will be right behind it…I thank you for your support of our farm, the excellent local Maine foods, and our vibrant small (and very necessary)farms and farm families….

I look forward to hearing from you!

Grateful for all of you,

Kath
